FAQs

Q?

WHAT’S THE RIGHT TYRE FOR MY CAR?

A.

The Right Tyre For Your Car
The correct tyre size and tyre pressure for you vehicle is usually found in your car owners’ manual guide in the glove compartment or on the OEM sticker on the inside of your driver’s side door. If you're unsure about which tyre is the ideal fit for your car, speak to Warrnambool's tyre experts, TyrePlus Warrnambool.

The Correct Tyre Size
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. To put it simply, these are the tyre specifications that came with your vehicle when it left the factory or car yard. The information found on the OEM includes the tyre size, rim size, the aspect ratio etc. Again, if you're unsure about the correct tyre size for you car, 4x4, van, ute, motorbike or truck, get in touch with your friendly local team.

Q?

WHAT’S THE RIGHT TYRE PRESSURE FOR MY CAR?

A.

Tyre Pressure

The correct tyre pressure to inflate your tyres can be located on the vehicle or tyre placard or Vehicle Owners Manual and is the ideal tyre pressure to maintain, so your tyres can provide you with maximum performance, including mileage, handling, ride comfort, noise reduction and tread life. For correct results, it is important to remember that the air pressure found on the side of the tyre sidewall is the maximum pressure, not necessarily the recommended tyre pressure.

Q?

WHAT’S CAUSING MY TYRE TO WEAR UNEVENLY?

A.

When the shoulder of the tread on one side of a tyre wears faster than the adjacent tread surface, this can result from a variety of conditions, such as front and/or rear misalignment, loose or worn suspension components, hard cornering, improper tyre rotation practices, misapplication, high crown roads or non-uniform mounting.

Please contact TyrePlus Warrnambool for a closer inspection.

Q?

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY VEHICLE IS PULLING TO ONE SIDE?

A.

Incorrect alignment settings can adversely affect handling. Tolerable camber, caster and toe settings can be verified by a print-out from your alignment/tyre shop or vehicle dealer.
If the tyres are evenly worn, the alignment is in order and there is still a pull, the front tyres should be criss-crossed (as long as they are not a directional tread design) to see if the pull changes directions.

This should be performed by an authorised motor mechanic at TyrePlus Warrnambool.

Q?

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THE CORDS OF MY TYRES ARE VISIBLE?

A.

Cord material may become visible at the base of tread grooves or slots due to under inflation, misalignment, loose/worn suspension components, hard cornering, improper tyre rotation practices, misapplication, high crown road or non-uniform mounting.
If cord material is visible, the tyre must be replaced.

Q?

WHY IS TYRE ROTATION IMPORTANT?

A.

Rotation is important because each tyre on a car carries a different amount of weight, making them wear at different rates. By rotating them, you basically even out those differences. Your owner’s manual will tell you how often to rotate your tyres but as a rough guide, it should be done every 10,000km. You might want to rotate them sooner if you see signs of uneven wear.

Q?

WHY IS MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKING?

A.

The most common cause of steering wheel shake is your wheel balance, so it's important to have this checked as soon as possible at your nearest T-Mart. Besides causing annoying steering wheel vibrations, seat vibrations and increased fuel consumption, improperly balanced wheels reduce road holding ability and also increase wear of shock absorbers, struts, suspension and chassis components.
